4 months

2007
4 months .............
What did you do for the past 4 months?
What are you going to do for the coming 4 months?
Here is my 4 months stories.

Last 4 months,Jan-Apr 2007
Final Year, 1st semester.
It was like hell, tonnes of assignments + projects to rush.
Just like in the open sea, it voilates and it is not always a smooth sailing journey.
Lucky there are a group of friends to help and support me. Thank you thank you.

Just realised that it's not difficult to become an 'ultimate actor'.
Had the opportunity to meet them.
Don't understand what is an 'ultimate actor'?
MY definition.
Those who treat you very kind, very helpful, very caring, but in the end it was just a show.
Spy on you, know your weakness and attack when you are at your weakest point.

Was slightly damaged but lucky was able to do some damage control.
This may sound evil, "Don't think you can get away with it so easy !!".

Next 4 months,May-Aug 2007
Final Year, Final Sem
yippie. will be completing my degree course soon.

Future 4 months, Oct 2007 - Jan 2008
Industrial Training, but I am allowed to start work if there is company who is willing to hire me.

Women's town

The 2.3-square-km Longshuihu village in the Shuangqiao district of Chongqing municipality, also known as "women's town," was based on the local traditional concept of "women rule and men obey".

Traditional women dominate and men have to be obedient in the areas of Sichuan province and Chongqing, and now they are using it as an idea to attract tourists and boost tourism.

When tour groups enter the town, female tourists would play the dominant role when shopping or choosing a place to stay, and a disobedient man would be punished by "kneeling on an uneven board" or washing dishes in restaurant.

More and more rapist in Malaysia

Teen alleges first date rape
JOHOR BARU: A 16-year-old girl flirted with a stranger for a month through SMS and finally decided to meet him. He raped her on their first date.

Nearly raped at her college
KUALA LUMPUR: An 18-year-old Tunku Abdul Rahman College (Ktar) student has alleged that she was almost raped by the person who was supposed to protect her – a security guard.

A living hell after getting porn photos
35-year-old woman from Selangor, who wanted to be identified only as Yang, China Press reported that the perpetrator had superimposed pictures of her face with the body of a naked woman.

All those are an abstract from today's newpaper. Rapist should be given harsh punishment at least 20 years of jail plus 20 strokes of rotan.

What does Indah Water Konsortium do?

How much are we paying Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd [IWK] for clearing up the sewage tank at our homes? And why does we pay them for? Cleaning the waste water?

From what it was reported by the Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid, it seems like the IWK is the main polluter of rivers in Peninsular Malaysia.

91% of pollution of rivers in the country is from inadequately-treated sewage.

Thus the "Love Our Rivers" campaign launched by the government more than 10 years ago is officially certified that it is a failure.

Lets sit back and think for a minute. We pay IWK to clean the sewage, but it was reported that they are poluting the river with inadequately-treated sewage. So.............. meaning that we paid IWK to polute the river? We are STUPID Malaysian, paying someone else to polute the river. We can just polute it by ourself.

What happen to the money? Where has it gone too?

Cheap tickets up for grabs

Malaysians can now look forward to more cheap air fares as the country’s two rival airlines are offering some 1.1 million cut-price seats to domestic and international destinations.
Prices as low as RM1 for domestic AirAsia flights and RM19 for domestic MAS flights will make passengers spoilt for choice.

AirAsia is also offering low-price seats for international destinations with one-way flights to Macau from RM61 and Chiang Mai from RM41. Flights to holiday destinations like Phuket will cost RM21 or to Hanoi from RM51.

The sales period for AirAsia is from April 23 to 29 for travel between Oct 1 2007 and March 29 2008.

As for MAS, the sales period is from April 23 to 28 for travel between May 7 and May 22, and, June 14 and June 30. However, travel will be restricted to certain days within those periods for some destinations.

AirAsia and MAS denied they were in a price war, saying the offer had already been planned for some time.
VMY 2007, what are you waiting for?? Lets go for a vacation.

Semester Break

Having my Final Semester Break. Another semester in UCSI and I would be out of it. Can't wait till that day arrived.

Well since the semester started in Jan, seldom have the chance to loiter around friends. Today post semester celebration with kin yan, kok hock a.k.a (fei lo) for more than 14 hrs by loitering in shopping complexes and playgrounds. Eat when we are hungry, walk till we are exhausted, then eat again, no matter what time is it. Finally the day end with a beer session at the children's playground with kin yan, fei lo, albert, kok foo and ling siong.

Yup, it was tiring especially after months of suffering, but it was fun. Sorry ya no photo for this post.

KL-S'pore high-speed train ??

There is a bullet train project at 300 km/h proposed to link Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, proposed by current high(er) speed rail (160 km/h) operator KLIA Express YTL, which links Kuala Lumpur with the KLIA. It would be the first transborder high speed line outside of Europe if built.

The distance between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore City is 325km. If the Velaro E is used, which has a top speed of 350km/h; travel time will be reduced to 90 minutes, compared with 4 hours of highway drive, 7 hours currently by standard rail, 2 hours of flight including commuting to and from airport, check in and boarding. Talks of a Bangkok Singapore line spanning the 3 nations have been suggested previously, though no action has been taken.

This is way faster than the previously mention KL-Ipoh fast train travelling time.

Two students caught performing oral sex in the school toilet

In Kangar, two prefects a Form Three girl and a Form Five boy were apparently caught red-handed in the men’s toilet last week by several students during recess. The school’s parent-teacher association wants the state Education Department to look into the case and the overall discipline problem in the school.

One of the parents said the act was also recorded on a camera phone. The image was later forwarded to several people. The parent, who declined to be named, said he was concerned over the latest incident.

What is happening in school students these days?

The news was taken from:
NST

KL-Ipoh Fast Train Service

A fast train service between Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh will begin early next year after the Rawang-Ipoh double-tracking project is fully completed by yearend.Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the travelling time under the new service would be two hours 15 minutes as the train had to stop at several stations along the route such as in Tanjung Malim, Slim River, Tapah, Kampar and Batu Gajah.

When the Rawang-Ipoh electrified double track project is fully completed, a new practice may emerge where people working in Kuala Lumpur will opt to live in suburban areas like Tanjung Malim or even Ipoh and commute using a train.

He said this situation would not be impossible because it happened in Seremban where many of its residents used KTM Komuter to go to work in Kuala Lumpur daily.

But to me, I don't think it can be called as fast train service. It still not enough, may be if the travelling time is cut short to 45 minutes, then it can be call FAST train service.

Sexual 'theme park' opens in London

An adults-only sexual "theme park" has opened in London, promising to help visitors improve their sex lives.

Just around the corner from Soho, London's red-light district, the attraction in the Trocadero entertainment center features interactive exhibits exploring aspects of sexual relationships ranging from flirting to fetishes. They are confident that visitors will walk away with tips to enhance their sex life and relationships

Several cities around the world — including Paris, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Barcelona — are home to erotic museums. Typically, they exhibit everything from pornography to high-minded paintings exploring local sexual attitudes and culture.

Booster Blades?

Booster Blades.

It is like a two in one item, the Booster Blades are worn like skates but pedal to propel forward.
The skate boot is mounted on a hinged frame. When you lift your foot, the wheels move closer together; when you push it down again they move apart and a drive belt turns the back wheel. As you lift your foot again, the wheels move together again and the drive belt re-winds ready for the next stroke. In this way, the up and down pedalling motion propels the rider forwards, building up fast speeds with little effort.

There is a brake operated by tilting the foot back on the heel, which can be operated at any time, even if you are half way through the pedalling motion. There are even plans for a mechanism for changing gear, which the inventor is hoping to introduce on later models.

College student loses RM148,000

A college student lost all her college fees totalling RM148,000 to a syndicate which told her that she had won RM3.3mil in two Internet lucky draws.

The 20-year-old student first received a call on March 20 from a woman telling her that she had won RM120,000 in a Hong Kong Turf Club online draw.

But in order to collect her winnings, she was told to deposit RM46,000 as insurance and processing fees.

She then transferred the amount into an overseas bank account on March 30. Later the day, she received another call from a man informing her that she had won another RM3.2mil in a bonus draw.

She managed to raise another RM102,000 which was the fees for the whole duration of her course. The money was then deposited into the same account on Wednesday.

After not hearing anything from the callers, she realised she had been cheated and made a police report the next day.

I wonder how she obtained such a huge amount of money.

Virginia Tech Shootings

The gunman suspected of carrying out the Virginia Tech massacre that left 33 people dead was identified on Tuesday as a English major whose creative writing was so disturbing that he was referred to the school's counseling service.

News reports also said that he may have been taking medication for depression, that he was becoming increasingly violent and erratic, and that he left a note in his dorm in which he railed against "rich kids," "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus.

Cho Seung-Hui, a 23 year's old senior, arrived in the United States as boy from South Korea in 1992 and was raised in suburban Washington, D.C., officials said. He was living on campus in a different dorm from the one where Monday's bloodbath began.

Police and university officials offered no clues as to exactly what set him off on the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history.

Expressing the nation's sorrow, President Bush ordered flags flown at half staff on Tuesday in honor of those killed in the nation's deadliest shooting spree.

This is not the first time shooting rampage were report in the U.S, it makes us wonder why the incident may happen at the first place.

Malaysian Style.

As usual, the rules or regulations suddenly appear when things goes wrong.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has found the contractor assigned to build the Putrajaya Immigration headquarters to have failed to install pipes according to specifications, leading to the burst pipe incident recently.

Works Minister Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu said the contractor was responsible for carrying out all construction work and pipe installations. From the beginning, the pipes were fixed without being coated with couplings and they were not anchored to the wall.

He said the contractor should have made sure that pipe installation works were done correctly and safely before handing over the maintenance responsibility to the PWD.

In another news The Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said that the Certificate of Completion and Compliance issuing parties who are from professional groups like architects and engineers unlike previously under the Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (CFO) system that was handled by local authorities.

The creation of the post of Building Commissioner in the Buildings and Property Act is to overcome problems in the maintenance and management of buildings and property and the parties that issue the Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC) for building projects will be held accountable for its safety forever

Just imagine that if every 5/10 buildings in Malaysia have burst pipe in thier house, who would be blame?? The contractor or the Inspecting Authorities?

Another BIG disgrace to the PWD again after the MRRII incident.

Landslides? Office floods?

What will be next?
A newly developed township, suppose to be a state of the art city. But wonder why so many problem arrised. It's time to question the realibility of the Putrajaya Public Works Department.

30th March 2007 : [Precinct 9]
Rising water pressure due to the corresponding rise in ground water has been blamed for the landslide.

11th April 2007 : [Immigration Department]
A torrent of water broke through ceilings and drenched carpets, office furniture and other equipment when the joint of one of the water pipes connected to a water tank dislodged.

Maybe bridge falling down?

Million-dollar salaries?

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong recently recommended an 83% pay increase for all his cabinet ministers, a proposal that would up their current annual pay rate of S$1.2 million (US$784,300) to S$2.2 million. Singapore already pays its senior ministers better than any other Asian country and most Western ones. For instance, Prime Minister Lee's S$1.94 million is currently three times the US$400,000 US President George W Bush takes home in salaryper year. Lee's salary is currently about 1.6 times that of his cabinet ministers.

Lee, said last month that the salaries of Singapore ministers, top public officials and judges had fallen way below benchmark private sector salaries. Lee said that Singapore ministers, who earn about S$1.2 million a year, should be earning S$2.2 million.

What irks Singapore's opposition parties is that the million-dollar salaries will indirectly benefit Lee's ruling People's Action Party (PAP), which currently dominates Parliament by controlling 82 of 84 seats, is in poor taste at a time that many middle- and lower-class Singaporeans face a declining standard of living.

PowerTek_4

POWERTEK is a product made by Kin Yan, Chin Tek and me for our Embedded System.

POWERTEK is a reprogrammable remote control, meaning.. it can control many types of equipment using the same remote control unit, by reprogram the PIC inside the remote control with the specified data.

We managed reproduce several types of remote control by capturing the original remote control data using the oscilloscope, then analyzed the data captured and reproduce the similiar waveform. Due to lack of experience, we only manage to control the ON/OFF of the equipment, but it already statisfied the requirement for the Embedded System. We successfully reproduce the signal for York's air-con, and Epson, Canon and Sanyo's projector. So now, lets go around UCSI and "piau" around with POWERTEK.

Thousands of thanks to Kin Yan and Chin Tek for all their hardwork to make this POWERTEK a success. Not forgetting thank you Pei Chen, Ivy and Ivy's bro for helping out in the flyers.

p/s : Kin Yan, we forgot to include the "SIRIM" chop in the flyers.

AirAsia to Japan?

It seems like AirAsia is giving JAL nightmares as they are getting ready to enter the Japanese market. AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes said in a recent interview that his company hopes to launch a $150 (RM530) round-trip service between Japan and Malaysia in 2008.

Airline industry officials describe AirAsia, Asia's largest budget airline, as the "Black Ship in the Sky," referring to U.S. Commodore Matthew Perry's fleet that cracked open an isolated Japan in the 1850s.

AirAsia, for example, can fly one seat at 2.33 cents per kilometer, about 30 percent of the costs of major airlines.

PROTON

Depleting sales since last year may force about 70 per cent of the national car sales and service dealers to go out of business, said Proton Edar Dealers' Association (Peda) president Wan Ahmad Sepwan Wan Abdul Rahman.Besides lacking new Proton models, he said, the sluggish sale of the national car models was attributed to buyers' preference for vehicles more suited for the family.

I wonder what does Proton's R&D department is doing everyday at work? They are consumer as well, don't they realized the problem?

He said there were almost 400 Proton dealers nationwide, far too many for a single brand, causing the sales to be spread thin.He said Peda felt that if Proton wanted to reduce the number of sales centres, it should start by changing the function of the Proton Edar sales centres to service centres. Only then can Proton focus on the effort to enhance customer satisfaction through a more professional and quality after-sales service.

Well, what was Proton initial plan? To open more and more dealers so what consumer may have easy access to their showroom? They definately DO NOT NEED 400 dealers to sell... I guess Proton still does not admit that their are lagging of customer satisfaction and definately providing a bad quality after sales service. They want to sell their cars like hot cakes, exporting to so many countries, while providing an xtremely low quality products to them. {LOW cost, HIGH profits} VERY good for their short term account. When people stop buying their cars, blame this, blame that, blame this and that again and they are ALWAYS right.
